Subject: summary and comment on last week’s school inspection by the Church of England.
Text: BIG BOOST FOR SMALL SCHOOL
Just a year after a very successful Ofsted inspection, Weston Lullingfields Primary School, near Baschurch, has once again been warmly endorsed – this time by the Church of England Education Office. The latest inspection report is a boost for the new headteacher Meriel Edge who is singled out for particular praise for the impact she has made in just a few months
The small classes under twenty, and personal attention given to all pupils underpin the school’s success. It means that the school can genuinely claim to offer a personalized education to the children in the local area who attend the school. It also creates the right climate for parents of home-educated children to benefit from the individualised flexi-school arrangements which make Weston Lullingfields unique within Shropshire.
Commenting on the inspection report, Community Governor Richard Arrowsmith said “Parents and Governors are delighted but not surprised that the inclusive nature of the school, good behaviour of the children, the friendly welcome for all and the children’s progress based on confidence and self-awareness are all singled out in this report. At a time when small schools all over the country feel threatened by year-on-year funding cuts, it is good to see a classic small rural village school thriving and performing so well.”
