Thinking about Learning: Learning to Learn in Further Education
FREE Sharing Best Practice Events
Changes in the global economy have altered Britain’s priorities; we can no longer rely on ‘jobs for life’ once our formal education ends. Our economy has changed from manufacturing to high-tech industries where we continually need to develop new skills. For us to thrive and survive as an economy, and for our learners to compete and succeed in this working environment, we must help them to become lifelong learners who can learn how to learn and put these skills into practice in any context, at any point in their lives.
The aim of the Thinking about Learning events is to share best practice and disseminate research findings on how to help learners to learn more effectively. They are being organised by the Campaign for Learning, which has been undertaking action research in this field for more than ten years, and NCFE, which offers a QCF Level 1 Award in Learning to Learn which can be used to draw down funding. These events will be an opportunity to hear from FE practitioners themselves about their experience of using learning to learn approaches, undertaking research and being part of a community of enquiry.
