On the 22-23rd January Anna Comino-James from the The Potential Trust and Prof Ian Cunningham from the Centre for Self Managed Learning http://www.selfmanagedlearning.org/ faciliated a learning event on Self Managed Learning at Hawkwood College, Stroud http://www.hawkwoodcollege.co.uk/
Colleagues from the Self Managed Learning College / South Downs Learning Centre http://www.college.selfmanagedlearning.org/ joined Prof Cunningham along with other participants from mainstream and alternative education sectors. The group looked at ways in which SML and alternative approaches to effective learning can be promoted and developed within all education sectors.
Self Managed Learning (SML) is about individuals managing their own learning. This includes people taking responsibility for decisions about: –
• what they learn
• how they learn
• when they learn
• where they learn
and most fundamentally
• why they learn.
