National Family Learning Network Conference: Parents as Partners in Learning
Wednesday 16th September 2009, Oak Tree Conference Centre, Coventry
Keynote speakers include Julia Gault, Head of Family Engagement Division at DCFS and Jan Tallis, Chief Executive, School-Home Support.
As we know, parents’ involvement in supporting their children’s learning can play a vital role at all stages of education and the benefits can be long lasting and influence future health, the quality of relationships and employment prospects. This area is high on the Government’s agenda and it is actively reviewing approaches to involving parents as partners in learning as highlighted in their latest White Paper Your Child, Your Schools, Our Future: Building a 21st Century School System, which sets out statutory Pupil and Parent Guarantees.
This conference, through stimulating presentations and interactive workshops, will provide the opportunity for those involved in work with parents to bring together their experience and knowledge with a view to influencing policy, transform working approaches and ultimately bring about sustainable cultural change. It is aimed at all those committed to taking this agenda forward and is specifically relevant to those working in education, children’s services, health and voluntary and community organisations.
