The Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families announced that he has commissioned an independent review of home education. The review will be conducted over the next four months with a report published in May 2009
The review will investigate if and how far children who are educated at home are able to achieve the five Every Child Matters outcomes; assess the effectiveness of current arrangements for ensuring their safety, welfare and education; and, if necessary, make recommendations for improvements to the current systems. Further information about the review and the full terms of reference can be found at www.everychildmatters.gov.uk/ete/homeeducation.
The review is available at http://www.dcsf.gov.uk/consultations/index.cfm?action=consultationDetails&consultationId=1605&external=no&menu=1
