The principal speaker is going to be John Gatto. John was recognised as “Teacher of the Year” three years in succession in New York but became so disenchanted with formal education that he resigned and has committed his life to Educational reform. One of his books is titled Dumbing us Down: the history of compulsory schooling. John is a truly inspirational thinker and speaker. The title of his presentation will be “Weapons of Mass Destruction”
 
The location of Arbroath has been chosen to co-inside with celebration of the Declaration of Arbroath where “freedom” in Scotland was envisaged all those years ago.
 
Schoolhouse have a very powerful and important message for the whole of our society.
