BESA urgently seeks teacher input for Policy Commission

BESA are urgently calling on teachers and educators to visit the just-released online survey at http://commission.eduresearch.org.uk/ to add their voice to the BESA Policy Commission into the changing face of education.  The deadline for submissions by teachers and educators is 30 June 2008, however, if you would like to add the information to your website it would be greatly appreciated. BESA would like as many teachers and educators as possible to have the opportunity to get their opinions across to the Commission. BESA seeks teacher input for Policy Commission into the future needs of education To mark its 75th anniversary in 2008, BESA, the educational suppliers’ trade association, has established a Policy Commission to investigate the changing nature of education and to raise awareness of resource needs to accommodate this and future evolution. BESA is now calling on teachers and educators to submit their views to the Commission for inclusion in the final report, to be published in November 2008.  Dominic Savage, director general of BESA commented: “As we strive towards describing optimum learning environments, BESA’s Policy Commission, chaired by Charles Clarke MP, will conduct an audit of change and ideas in the school system.  It will ask, at every stage, what are the intended and likely impacts on education in the UK and what resources will support or are necessitated by such change.” In order to successfully represent the views of the sector in the Policy Commission, BESA is seeking the opinions of teachers and educators on the changing face of education. Teachers are urged to visit http://commission.eduresearch.org.uk/ and take ten minutes to complete the online response form.  The deadline for responses is 30 June 2008.
Dominic Savage continued: “Many leading-edge thinkers are arguing for little less than revolution in the coming decades though schools are more likely to complain of initiative fatigue. We are growing in our understanding of learning and new technologies offer opportunities to enhance both the management of learning and learning itself.” After the 30 June 2008 response deadline, the BESA Policy Commission will consider the written evidence and will seek oral responses from teachers and educators through a series of seminars.  Dominic Savage added: “The BESA Policy Commission will analyse major developments and prove a valuable contribution to the education debate from Early Years through to Further Education. It will tackle questions regarding professional development needs, procurement change, resource requirements and gaining a balance between personalisation and achieving core standards.”~ends~For further press information contact:Jo LeeMango Marketing1B The Quadrant Courtyard, Quadrant WayWeybridge, KTI3 8DRT: 01932 829 077F: 01932 827 576E: jo.lee@mangomarketing.com For information from BESA contact:Ray BarkerDirectorBESAT: 020 7537 4997E: ray@besa.org.uk
